Meeting of the AC&C Board of Directors

The next meeting of the AC&C Board of Directors is scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, 3 PM at the DOH
offices,  125 Worth Street, 3rd Floor.  Let’s surprise the Directors with an overflow crowd.
As many of you know, the AC&C

The above-statement was made in 1997.  Yup, but it’s as true today as it was back then.  Veterinarian
Louise Murray made that statement, while she was serving on the AC&C Board as an independent
director.  Mayor Giuliani and the DOH quickly tossed her off the board, and replaced her with a reliable
rubberstamp.

The year 1997 marked the last time there was an AC&C Director who was qualified and motivated to help
AC&C animals.   Since then, the DOH and the Mayor’s Office have been very careful to select only people
who promise to serve them and not AC&C animals.

So, do whatever you can to attend the June 21st meeting.  See for yourself the current roster of AC&C
Directors.  Click

…  is trapped in a cycle of failure which can only be broken if we are released from- the
stranglehold of City Hall. Without the right leader, we cannot raise funds, improve our
programs, or take the kind of care we would like to of the animals in our charge.  *** Our city
funding is patently inadequate to do the job asked of us, and certainly inadequate to move
forward, yet burdened by this criticism and the public image of a city agency, we cannot
successfully utilize our not-for-profit status to raise funds.  http://www.shelterreform.
