Rudy, would you kill her if she were your dog?

175,000 healthy, adoptable pets have been killed in City animal shelters since Rudy Giuliani took office. 150 deaths a day. Making NYC the cruelest animal rescue system in the country. The Mayor allocates just 75¢ a year per person to save homeless pets, half the national average. And the Center for Animal Care and Control, which he formed to replace the ASPCA, is plagued by mismanagement, with no public accountability.

We want New Yorkers to know what's going on behind closed shelter doors. Please, send whatever you can afford, now. We'll use it to keep you informed, and to pressure the Mayor to change policy. Then maybe he can look his dog, Goalie, in the eye.

The Sanitation Commissioner heading up NYC's Animal Shelters?
Come on, Rudy. You're kidding.

For the third year in a row, Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty is the Chairman of the Board of the Center for Animal Care and Control. Under his "leadership" more than 150 healthy, adoptable animals are killed and carted away every day. Mayor Giuliani appoints bureaucrats who are more interested in keeping this tragedy quiet than solving the problem of pet overpopulation.

Help us send a message to Mayor Giuliani that homeless animals are not garbage. Call the Mayor at (212) 788-3000 to let him know what you think. And, send us a check or money order payable to the Shelter Reform Action Committee and we'll continue to keep you informed and pressure the Mayor to provide humane solutions.

Would you spend the cost of one breakfast to save 45,000 shelter animals?
Rudy won't.

Shockingly, Mayor Giuliani allocates just 75¢ per New Yorker per year on animal care and control. That's about half the national average. This severe underfunding means New York has no public low-cost spay/neuter programs, no humane education, no city-wide adoption centers, no long-term programs to reduce the stray animal population.

Send a message to Mayor Giuliani that New Yorkers are fed up with his callous "collect-and-kill" policy. Call the Mayor at (212) 788-3000. And please send a check or money order payable to the Shelter Reform Action Committee to help us fight for a more humane New York.

Rudy, last year you micro-managed more than 45,000 shelter animals
...to death.

Mayor Giuliani proudly claims New York is the greatest city in the world. But when it comes to its lost and stray animals, Rudy Giuliani's New York is worse than a third-world country.

The Mayor had the opportunity to institute humane solutions to animal overpopulation when the City took over from the ASPCA in 1995. Instead, he put inexperienced bureaucrats in charge and then crippled the animal shelters with severe underfunding. The result is an obscene system that kills more than 80% of the animals it takes in --175,000 killed since the Mayor took office. And what's worse, City officials try to cover up their neglect and mismanagement of these animals, and the Mayor knows it.

It's time to get experienced professionals to do the job right, and commit the resources needed. Other cities have done it. Why can't we?

Help us fight for a more humane New York. Send a check or money order payable to the Shelter Reform Action Committee today:
