Re: CACC Acting Director

===========================================================

I am pleased to inform you that the Board of Directors of the CACC has hired Ed Boks, Executive Director of Maricopa
County Arizona Animal Care and Control as the new Acting Executive Director of the CACC for the next 6 month on a
part time basis.

Ed has 20 years of experience in shelter management having started as a kennel worker and moved up to his current
position as Executive Director. From all reports, he should bring a fresh new critical eye to all aspects of the CACC. He
is committed to the no-kill ideal having been instrumental in securing a Maddie's Fund grant for Maricopa County and is
also a regular speaker at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary No More Homeless Pets Conferences. Please check out
the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control and the No More Homeless Pets Conference web sites if you have not
already done so.

Although I think we would all have loved to have seen a long term contract I think this is an excellent beginning - in six
months I am confident that Ed will have fallen in love with New York City and become so engaged in making the CACC a
first rate shelter he will re-up for the long term!

We have already made considerable progress here in NYC with the creation of the Alliance, the completion of the
Maddie's Fund grant application by the Alliance and the VMA NYC and the development of a better working relationship
with the CACC. With Ed's input I am hopeful we will achieve our mission of creating a no kill city. I am looking forward to
working with him.
